Welcome to Anatomy and Physiology of the Ruminant
Digestive System Interactive Simulations, a WebGL
(Web Graphics Library)
tool for learning anatomy, physiology, and the animation sequence of how the
digestive system of ruminant’s functions.
The simulations will help you better grasp the physiology of each ruminant digestive
system’s component.
WebGL is a technology for rendering interactive 3D graphics within the browser.
WebGL works right on a website (whether it is accessed from a desktop or smartphone)
without installing additional software. To best experience this web application,
we recommend using one of the following WebGL enabled browsers:
1. Google Chrome 34+
2. Mozilla Firefox 31+
3. Apple Safari 8+
4. Microsoft Internet Explorer 11+ (experimental)
Other browsers may work, but Chrome or Firefox are suggested for a better
experience except on iOS where Safari is preferred.

Click/ tab at the upper left panel
, to return to mode selection menu.
Click/ tab at the lower right panel
, where you can get more help or instructions on handling the state's interface.
Experience
the Ruminant Digestive System
Interactive Simulations contains the Cross-section & Anatomy Mode
and the Digestive System Mode.
The Anatomy Mode illustrates:
the external anatomy of ruminant digestive system’s components
the external anatomy of ruminant stomach components Rumen, Reticulum, Omasum,
and Abomasum
the cross-section anatomy of ruminant stomach components Rumen, Reticulum,
Omasum, and Abomasum
the anatomy of Celiac artery and trunk in ruminant stomach
Click / tab to show or hide each
component at the left panel.
Rumen & Reticulum
Omasum
Abomasum
Spleen
Celiac artey & trunk
Tag name
Note: When each component is
hidden / shown, the tag name
associated with that part will also be hidden / shown.
Click / tab on each tag name to highlight
that specific part.
The highlighted tag name will revert to its initial state if you click / tab
on it again or choose to
highlight on a different tag name.
Double-click / double-tab on each 3D model
of
Rumen & Reticulum /
Omasum /
abomasum to access
the Cross-section Mode for that specific part.
In Cross-section Mode ,
Slide
to choose the plane for cross-section, which can be used both
axes together.
Click / tab
to switch side of the cross-section plane is shown in that
axis.
Click / tab
to close the cross-section mode of that part.
The Digestive System Mode ,
illustrates the process of food movement through a ruminant's digestive system,
which also includes the rumination, where the food boluses are regurgitated for
rechewing.
Click / tab
to go to next step.
Click / tab
to go back to previous step.
At the end, Click / tab
to go back to the first step again.
